  Inspection Appointment FAQ:


Q. How much do your charge for inspection appointments?
A. Nothing. Inspection appoints are free.

Q. Why should I schedule an appointment?
A. Everyone who works with children should have an appointment once a year as well as when changes need to be made for a particular situation (for example, when a child moves form one stage to the next). This insures you have all the information you need to keep children in your care safe.

Q. Can someone other than the child's parent schedule an appointment?
A. Yes, anyone can schedule an appointment with me.

Q. How long does an appointment take?
A. That depends on the complexity of your situation. Most appointments last approximately 45-60 minutes.


Q. What happens during an appointment?
A. I walk you through the specific information that is relevant for your stage in life. If a car seat in involved, I discuss issues pertaining to that seat, as well as the next stage in your child's life, and teach YOU to use your seat properly. Car seats are also checked for recalls.

Q. Will you install my seat for me?
A. No. I will teach you how to install it yourself. After meeting with me you will be confident in your ability to install your own seats.

Q. May I bring my sister (cousin, uncle, friend, ect) with me to my appointment?
A. Yes, but please let me know at least 24 hours in advance that you are planning to do so. This allows me to prepare the appropriate materials and supplies.

 Awareness Class FAQ

 

Q. Why should my organization host an awareness class?
A. Automotive passenger safety, and child passenger safety affects us all. Injuries to individuals without sufficient medical insurance impacts all taxpayers. Many injuries and deaths can be prevented with just a little information.

Q. How much do classes cost?
A. I do not charge a fee for classes presented to non-profit groups. Click on the Donations tab on your left for more information. 


Q. What does an awareness class offer to my automobile dealership?
A. Awareness classes are an ideal opportunity for automobile delears. They are generally scheduled during a time when the office is not open for business, so the entire staff has the ability to attend. The material taught can be modified to fit only the vehicles sold by that dealership, or the material can be based on more general basics, such as an explanation of the LATCH system and how airbags and seatbelts function.

Q. How long does a class last?
A. That is dependant on the material being covered. A class that is being presented to parents meant to cover everything from birth to the teen years may take as much as two hours. A class presented to a dealership to explain the LATCH system may take 35 minutes or so.

Q. Do you do classes for health care workers and pediatrician's offices?
A. Yes I do. Due to the vital importance of classes for this group, a special fee rate is available. I suggest an hour for classes for healthcare providers.

Q. How do we decide which class best meets our needs?
A. That is determined by the people attending the class and what information the class sponsors wish to present.

Q. Where do you get your lesson plans?
A. My lesson plans are based on "Best Practice" as defined by the Child Passenger Safety community, and are written by me. A list of reference materials ia available by request.

Q. What about the law?
A. My classes will present the law, however the law is woefully inadequate and should not be considered Best Practice.
